A Going Concern is a consultancy built through a consortium of highly experienced consultants.  As a team, we address the needs of clients in business continuity, disaster recovery for technology resources, Information security and IT technology design, and how to design efficiency and recoverability into business processes.

Managing Consultant,  West Coast Lead         KPMG - Irvine, CA                                      2012- 2013

Manager for delivery of Business Continuity and IT Disaster Recovery services to Business Resiliency clients and prospects.


 Led Business Continuity team through several documentation efforts at Fortune 500, apparel and home fashion chain (largest in US):

o Provided subject matter expertise in developing Business Continuity framework for the apparel chain.  This included governance and audit for the enterprise program by defining critical elements and policy components, this documentation gives the Business Continuity team, the means to measurably function and provide performance metrics back to the organization.

o Refreshed Crisis Management guide and provided basis for Senior Executive response criteria.  This documentation allows C-Suite members to rapidly respond to crisis events within the enterprise and provides a matrix means of prioritizing their specific response.

o Provided presentation led, table-top exercise to allow organization to measure effectiveness of internal communication during a mock crisis event.  In this case, the Crisis Management team was able to effectively apply changes to their Human Resource policies to allow for more immediate staff notifications.

 Provided Business Resiliency consultation for both on line and on-campus university with student population of over 100,000 enrollees:

o Within university provided quantifiable feedback on RFP response for procurement of mass notification software solution which provides an immediate, interactive communication means for students, faculty and response teams.  

o Coordinated and refreshed existing BIA and gathered new data from all university administration functions, which establishes quantifiable basis for critical processes within each area, providing the university accurate prioritizations for critical applications and associated dependencies.

o Facilitated table top exercises for Emergency, Crisis, and Business Continuity response teams.  This training provided to more than 90 individuals who has allowed the organization to validate and improve their responses to a crisis event scenario.

 Performed Business Impact Analysis (BIA) at leading commercial real estate company with more than 28,000 operational offices and managing over 455 million square feet of properties:

o Incorporated workshop format to this BIA workstream in order to reduce client cycle time within meetings.  This format also reduced the overall BIA delivery time by 2 months.

o Incorporated existing Business Continuity plans into new BIA data, where applicable to reduce rework and client time with documentation.  Validated and proved all BIA delivery data through table-top exercises at client site.

Responsible for development and delivery of IT Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity Planning, and Crisis Communication services for Marsh clients.


 Functioned as Chief Architect for Business Continuity Programs within SharePoint environments for Marsh clients.  Primary developer for MS Office based Business Continuity data gathering tools utilized within SharePoint environments and stand alone.

 Conducted clients’ site assistance visits identifying critical assets, system interdependencies and vulnerabilities.

Provided corporate leadership at the enterprise level for Business Continuity practices which directly supported the protection of Option One's revenue stream, physical assets, and staff associates. Ensured industry best practices were applied to the company's recovery plans, policies, and procedures.

 Developed, implemented, and coordinated Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategy, planning, policies, awareness, education, and testing across the Option One Mortgage Corporation enterprise.

 Coordinated and validated business and IT unit recovery plans to ensure testing of each plan through onsite and offsite recovery exercises.

 Was responsible for the development, maintenance and testing of company emergency response and crisis management efforts through tests and coordination with line of business management.

Lead Subject Matter Expert for Enterprise Technology Disaster Recovery Initiative at Morgan Stanley. Senior Consultant for Disaster Recovery initiative in the IT/Enterprise Projects group.  .

 Developed, implemented, and tested Disaster Recovery procedures during powerdown failover test, which included complete powerdown of Newport datacenter, failover of all infrastructures, and verification of business functionality of affected applications.

 Performed audit function during DR tests within command and control center, thus providing documentation for further improvement.

 Gathered appropriate data from business and technology groups to incorporate into enterprise wide crisis communications program.


Managing Consultant    Business Edge Solutions, New York, NY   2003 - 2004

Head of newly formed Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Practice. Lead Consultant for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery at JPMorgan Chase engagement for newly established Retail Teller System (part of 37 million-dollar project).

 Deployed Disaster Recovery Methodology and Appropriate Reusable Solution Assets (Scenario Tables, Fail Over Procedures, and Test Scripts) to create the basis of a Technical and Business Continuity Strategy.

 Performed Risk Analysis to create accurate matrices of scenarios applicable to a new Retail Teller System.  Established and led DR teams to articulate and document the potential facility, network, and component failures of the system.

 Created Disaster Recovery Plan document that housed all specific information and procedures to recover the entire array of technology, to include UNIX & Linux architecture behind the new Teller System.  All plans and procedures were integrated into the client’s existing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Program.

 Performed Disaster Recovery Testing for all technology components assessed, including Wintel, Sybase and Oracle platforms.  .


Business Continuity Manager    ABN AMRO, New York, NY     2001 - 2002

Vice President responsible for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Program for the Americas.

 Provided strategic framework and budget (13.7 million) for the inception of a BCP/DR Program for Wholesale Client’s Services (WCS) Americas by c completing assessments of all core business areas within WCS portion of the bank.  

 Developed Crisis Management Program documentation which established the methodology for communications during any disruptive event.

 Led IT based SWAT team and consultants through a series of intensive evaluations of major vendors for prospective DR services, to include use of EMC SRDF replication services coupled with dark fiber. Coordinated and directed the global BCP practice with global teams.



Director, Operational Risk Services                  Instinet, New York, NY     1996 - 2001

Risk Reporting Specialist for Operational Risk group within the world’s largest electronic broker

 Conducted operational metrics reports to efficiently provide senior management accurate measurements of business critical operations and technology functions.   As a result of operational downtime review, the firm reduced downtime from several hours to 15 minutes over the year 2000-01, saving approximately 2 million dollars in revenue.

 Developed and implemented customized metrics for Credit Risk, Compliance, Accounts Receivable, and Business Continuity to accurately reflect operations not previously known, enabling these groups to effectively reduce their respective problem areas.  As a direct result of the additional Credit Risk metric, the firm could calculate a percentage of exposure limits as it related to the rating of a client, thus protecting the firm from potential high losses and extended receivables.

 Created customized group alignment tool for members of Operation Risk Services.  This tool allowed staff to position their goals and objectives in alignment with the mission of the firm, creating a seamless flow of work for employees.



Global Head of Business Continuity   Instinet, London, UK      1996 - 2001

Responsible for the Europe (Frankfurt, Zurich, and Paris) contingency functions.

 Established Business Continuity Office for Europe focused on an institutionalized, global scale, thus satisfying parent company and Financial Services Authority mandates for BCP.

 Directed international engagement for Y2K preparation and event with PricewaterhouseCoopers, resulting in comprehensive, and issue free transition to new millennium.

 Led project team for necessary office relocation in Frankfurt, Germany.  This time critical move relocated an entire trade floor and back office in one weekend without incident or loss of business.

 Using SDLC method, developed, tested, and implemented complete internal Business Continuity Plans for the entirety of the London office, thus creating 100% business resumption condition for the organization.


Business Continuity Consultant  Instinet, Bedford, MA      1996 - 2001

Provided Technology Continuity support within the IT environment at Instinet’s primary Data Center.

 Developed and maintained Lotus Notes databases to warehouse documentation of Business Continuity key areas such as, plans, major outages, testing, and audits, thereby providing initial means of capturing business critical data for future reference and audit.

 Performed corporate awareness of the program through process mapping of emergency notification procedures for Instinet staff members, thus allowing for immediate responses to critical situations.
